WHAT IS THERAPEUTIC LASER THERAPY?

The Grove Animal Hospital uses a state-of-the-art, class IV therapeutic K-Laser® as an additional aid against both chronic and acute pain. This treatment is non-invasive and will typically reduce healing time and increase comfort. In a process known as photobiostimulation, this low-level laser stimulates the body to heal itself at a more rapid rate than other treatments by improving circulation to the surrounding tissues, resulting in:

  • Oxygen Production
  • Stimulation of ATP Production
  • An Increase in DNA and RNA Synthesis
  • Stimulation of Cellular Metabolism and Cell Growth
  • Enhanced Collagen Synthesis
  • Accelerated Tissue Repair
  • Analgesia through the Release of Endorphins and Enkephalins
  • Reduced Inflammation
  • Improved Healing of Wounds
  • Increased Blood Flow at Injury Site
  • Improved Bone and Cartilage Health

LASER THERAPY MAY BE USED TO TREAT:

  • Post-Surgical Pain and Inflammation
  • Acute and Chronic Ear Infections
  • Gum Disease
  • Skin Wounds Caused by Abscesses, Hot Spots and Lick Granulomas
  • Anal Gland Infections
  • Acute and Chronic Neck and Back Pain (IVDD)
  • Fractures
  • Post-Surgery Pain, Healing and Rehab
  • Muscle, Ligament and Tendon Injuries (Sprains/Strains)
  • Post Cruciate Ligament Repair
  • Arthritis/Degenerative Joint Diseases, Like Hip Dysplasia
  • Joint Ankalosis
  • Inflammation and Edema
  • Neuromuscular Disease

K-Laser treatments normally last three to eight minutes per site, depending on the area being treated and the reason for treatment—no anesthesia is required. Your pet will be very comfortable, as our K-Laser produces only a soothing warmth in the inflamed tissue. The number of treatments needed and the time between treatments depends on the condition being treated. The specifics of these questions can be answered by your veterinarian during your visit.

Most conditions need multiple follow-up treatments for the best long-term results, but many patients see some results after the first treatment. Please contact our front desk at (770) 467-3140 if you are interested in having your pet treated with our K-Laser therapy.
